Pharmacist and budding entrepreneur Melissa Autry is preparing to open what will be Arlington’s only independent pharmacy by the spring.

Her hope is for the Arlington Apothecary to offer a friendly, small-town feel where she knows customers and their families by name.

Autry and her family will move from Brownsville to Arlington to start the new business.

“There’s just a big need for an independent pharmacy there,” said Autry, who attended UT-Martin for her undergraduate degree and earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from the Union College of Pharmacy.

In addition to medication, the new pharmacy will sell apparel from Tucked and Threaded, and Autry is looking into offering Rosemark Easy Meals.
