The arrival of BlueOval City east of Shelby County could result in more transit options along the routes to Lakeland.
The state Department of Transportation is conducting a corridor study for the new Ford plant looking at how Memphis Area Transit Authority could provide more transportation there. The Lakeland Board of Commissioners discussed the potential partnership with MATA during its meeting Thursday, April 20.
“The City of Memphis is really looking at ways we can boost the employment here to get people to BlueOval City,” MATA Chief Development Officer John Lancaster said. “There are a lot of exciting things happening right now in the transit world. Our simple mission is to connect people to places.”
