Memphis Tourism CEO Kevin Kane Shares His Optimism About the Local Economy and Tourism
Collierville, TN – CEO of Memphis Tourism Kevin Kane addressed the Collierville business community today at the February Monthly Meeting. Collierville First Baptist Church hosted the sold-out crowd, who came to hear Kane speak about the future of local tourism.
Diving into the meeting, Kane recognized Renasant Bank’s contribution to the new Memphis’ Renasant Convention Center. Built in 1973, the Convention Center debuted its $200M modernization in October 2020.
“We have transformed it into one of the most beautiful facilities for conventions, trade shows and conferences,” Kane said.
As Memphis recovers from the pandemic, Kane says the Convention Center serves as a launching pad for the local economy. Just last month, over 600 volleyball players and their families traveled to Memphis for a volleyball tournament at the Convention Center.
“Music history, outdoor amenities and a modern airport are just a few of the reasons people are drawn to Memphis,” Kane said.
Kane also discussed how “outdoor recreation is a selling point for communities,” and looks forward to attending the Iron Man that Shelby Farms will host in October 2021.
“Tourism makes communities a better place, which ultimately benefits the business community,” Kane said.
Kane remains optimistic about the future of tourism. By mid-summer, he believes the tourism industry will be back on track.
