Engineered Medical Systems (EMS) is a company that makes medical devices in Bartlett. It will spend $13.3 million and create 60 more jobs over the next five years. As a result, this investment will increase manufacturing.
The 18-year-old company makes surgical instruments, implants, and specialty medical devices.
EMS will buy computer equipment to increase its machining capacity and capabilities at the Bartlett facility.
So far, the company has already more than doubled the size of its facility from 40,000 to 92,000 square feet.
“It is a terrific sign that EMS will move forward with this expansion in Bartlett so quickly after completing its last expansion, and I welcome the creation of 60 new family-wage jobs in West Tennessee,” Rolfe said in a prepared statement.
Ben R. Smith, EMS chief executive, said, “EMS has developed tremendous partnerships with world leading biomedical (original equipment manufacturers).
“We have built an extraordinary team of managers, engineers and machinists that has enabled us to respond to the challenging demands of our industry,” Smith said. “We look forward to leveraging our capabilities and service offerings in the dynamic biomedical market.”
