The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, returns to Lakeland this year for the 21st annual event June 28.
Tickets go on sale March 27.
This year’s home is in the new Kensington Manor subdivision off U.S. 70. Work is in full swing on the roughly 4,000-square-foot home that will be the grand prize.
“The City of Lakeland is honored once again to be the home of the St. Jude Dream Home for 2020,” Lakeland City Manager Shane Horn said. “It’s exciting to partner with St. Jude and play a small role in their phenomenal efforts to advance cures for pediatric catastrophic diseases.”
ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will sell 15,000 tickets, at $100 each, and all funds raised will go toward helping St. Jude cover the costs for treatment, travel, housing or food for the families of patients.
Southern Serenity Homes is building its 13th consecutive St. Jude Dream Home, helping to raise more than $15 million during the giveaway’s 13-year span.
The home has four bedrooms and four baths, with vaulted ceilings throughout, a large playroom, laundry room with dog wash, and outdoor living area and kitchen. The house will come equipped with top-of-the-line equipment and appliances from sponsors like Trane, Brizo, Shaw Floors and Bosch.
Collierville-based Classic Home Design created the floor plan for the home.
The City of Lakeland donated $11,050 toward the 2020 project and waived all building permit fees.
