The Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously voted Monday, June 28, to adopt the 2022 budget and increase the stormwater fee.
“This year’s budget was truly the test of all budgets,” Mayor Mike Palazzolo said. “In my 17 years on the board, I think this is probably one of the best and tightest budgets we’ve put forward.”
The $197.9 million budget has funds for major drainage, infrastructure and project developments. It also features an increased stormwater fee that went from an average of $3.25 to $9 monthly. This is the first increase since its establishment 11 years ago.
The new fee will generate about $2.8 million of operating revenue for the stormwater fund, making up most of that budget, for repairing and maintaining the city’s 241 miles of drainage infrastructure, City Administrator Patrick Lawton said.
