Elected officials in Arlington, Bartlett and Lakeland believe their municipalities offer suitable communities for Ford Motor Company’s thousands of future employees – once its electric vehicle and battery manufacturing campus opens at the Memphis Regional Megasite.
A drive from any one of those three suburbs to the Stanton site in Haywood County ranges between 24 and 36 minutes, according to MapQuest. That potentially creates three attractive options, and near enough locations, for someone considering Shelby County as a future home.
“Being an established community with all of the services that we have … we’ll try to make sure they are getting the message ahead of time that we feel like we’d be a good place,” Bartlett Mayor Keith McDonald said. “Especially, to raise their families. Good education for their children. Good place to play and live.”
