Some of Collierville Schools career and technical education programs were recognized at the state level for the way they prepare students to enter the workforce, the district announced Friday.
The Tennessee Pathways certified Collierville High School’s Nursing Services and Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair. Tennessee Pathways is part of Tennessee Board of Regents’ academic affairs.
The certification is earned after a program demonstrates quality instruction with partnerships allowing students to transition from education to career if that is their desired path.
“For two of our Career and Technical Education programs to earn the Tennessee Pathways Certification is a huge accomplishment, as well as an attribute to all of the hard work and dedication our staff puts in to provide the best education for our students,” Superintendent Gary Lilly said in a release.
To earn the certification, programs must earn a 60 on a 100-point sale. Two independent reviewers looked at applications and then audited them for accuracy and consistency. Nursing Services received an 88 and Automotive Maintenance received an 85. Jen Hannah, Collierville Schools public information officer, said in the release that the certification allows the district to seek grant opportunities and advance the programs.
