Collierville Elementary has been named an Apple Distinguished School, the second time the Little Dragons have earned the honor.
The school was first recognized for its use of Apple products to personalize learning in schools over a three-year period beginning in 2018. The most recent announcement is for 2021 until 2024.
“To be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for three more years is a huge honor,” Principal Michael Ruiz, who joined the district over the summer, said in a press release. “I am so proud of our teachers and technology staff who work hard to be innovative in their teaching strategies. They truly engage our students in 21st-century learning.”
Collierville Elementary is the only public elementary school in Tennessee to have the award.
The district hopes students learn to solve problems using tools that help personalize learning and spark collaborative and creative skills. It also promotes learning in new ways.
Teachers are often more facilitators of learning as each student discovers something new through the use of technology in the classroom.
Collierville Elementary will begin exploring how students learn and ways to present information to ensure every student learns in the way that best suits them.
