A new urgent care center could be headed near the eastern edge Shelby County.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Monday, Aug. 8, approved a preliminary site plan for People First Urgent Care.
The board must still review the final plan as they must consider the retention plan, according to Jay Cravens, development director.
The urgent care center will sit on the east side of Fletcher Road, north of Poplar Avenue near the eastern edge of the suburb. The building is just west of the Take 5 Car Wash. There will not be access from Poplar until the space between the car wash and urgent care is developed.
Another tenant is also suggested to occupy about 700 square feet in the proposed 4,992-square-foot building that will hold the urgent care center.
The application proposes a 20-foot landscape buffer between the building and neighborhood to the north.
Cravens said the Planning Commission raised some concerns about any potential tenants for the small space. They wanted to ensure the user wasn’t a high-traffic generator.
This will be the fourth People First Urgent Care facility in Shelby County, joining locations in Bartlett, Germantown and Millington.
The building fits the designated medical professional office zoning. Collierville’s staff report said hours will be 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
