Chick-fil-A Proposes New Location in Collierville, Addresses Town Concerns
Chick-fil-A is looking to establish a new presence in Collierville, as evidenced by its recent submission of a plan to the town. The proposed location on Poplar Avenue, situated west of Bray Station Road and north of Poplar, aims to address the community’s needs. Notably, it is positioned across from Schilling Farm’s Water Tower District on the east side of Cartwright Farm Lane, less than a mile from the existing suburban site. However, Chick-fil-A has conveyed its intention to close the current location should the new site gain approval.
The initial review of the proposal is scheduled for the Planning Commission meeting on December 7 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall. This represents one of two new Chick-fil-A establishments under consideration in Collierville. The Board of Zoning Appeals for the suburb previously rejected a zoning variance related to parking for another potential site on Houston Levee in the northwest area of Collierville. As of now, no site plan has been submitted for that location, according to Jaime Groce, the town planner.
The proposed Chick-fil-A’s primary entrance is positioned on the north side of the building, with the site plan indicating its proximity to Poplar and parking situated to the north of the structure. The plan outlines two drive-thru lanes without direct access from Poplar, although the capacity of the drive-thru has not been immediately specified. The drive-thru is strategically positioned to divert traffic away from Poplar, and a landscaping buffer is indicated between the bustling thoroughfare and the restaurant.
Access to the chicken chain would be facilitated through Greenhouse Way, a future private street connecting Cartwright Farms Lane to Bray Station. Additionally, a new right-turn-only lane is proposed to turn onto Cartwright Farms from Poplar.
The proposed 2.5-acre Collierville site includes a 6,110-square-foot building with seating for 144 guests, comprising 100 indoors and 44 on the patio. The plan allocates 72 parking spaces, just under the town’s maximum permitted parking spaces of 74, determined by square footage and the number of seats.
