Arlington Seeing More Office Development, Looks to 560 New Homes - Shelby County Chamber Alliance

Developer Bill Powell’s new Little Commercial Subdivision project passed one of its final hurdles Monday night as the project gained final plat approval from the Arlington Planning Commission.

The commission also endorsed construction plans for a new phase of The Village at White Oaks residential project as well as Phase 1 final plat recording for the new Wilson Lake planned development.

Powell’s Little Commercial Subdivision will consist of three separate office buildings on 2.8 acres across from Arlington High School on the west side of Airline Road at Hayes Road.

“For the longest time, we’ve had a plan for Airline Road that eventually everything through there would be commercial,” Brian Thompson, chairman of the commission, said after the meeting. “This is one example where it was residential for a long time and now it’s becoming commercial.”

Powell and CRE Consulting Group bought the property near the beginning of this year. A mobile home on the site was removed, and a house there now will be demolished.
